The Role of a PREP Surveyor
PREP Surveyors are trained experience assessors who conduct facility surveys on behalf of the program.
PREP surveys are unannounced — facility staff do not know surveyors are coming, so the role demands discretion, professionalism and composure alongside sharp observation.
A PREP survey is unlike a clinical audit. Surveyors:
Interview patients and relatives.
Observe the facility’s public and patient-facing spaces.
Review feedback and complaints handling.
Speak with staff about experience practice — never clinical practice.
