A PREP-certified facility has been independently assessed — through interviews with patients and families like you, observation of its public areas, and review of how it handles feedback — against international standards for how people are treated. Certification means the facility has demonstrated, among other things, that:
You are welcomed warmly and treated with courtesy, dignity and respect — and your privacy is protected.
You receive clear, timely information in a language and format you understand, and staff genuinely listen to you.
Waiting is managed and explained, help is easy to find, and the facility is easy to navigate.
Your family are welcomed as partners in your care, in line with your wishes — with fair visiting and amenities for those who wait or stay with you.
The environment is clean and comfortable, and the food experience is treated as part of your care.
Admission, transfers, discharge and billing are organised, explained and transparent throughout your stay.
Your emotional, cultural, spiritual and language needs are recognised and respected.
It's easy to give feedback or raise a complaint — and complaints are handled fairly, promptly, and used to improve.
Your personal data is handled with transparency and consent, and your digital experience is treated with the same respect.
PREP assesses experience only. It does not assess clinical care, treatments or medical outcomes — those are covered by clinical accreditation programs. A facility’s PREP certification tells you how it treats people; its clinical accreditations tell you about the safety and quality of its medical care. Together, they give the full picture.
